2024 Update! Homeless Cares is suspending shower and laundry services as of 1/1/24. Breakfast in the park will continue until further notice. Homeless Cares is moving into a new phase of strategic planning for exciting new projects to accommodate the unhoused.
Caring begins with personal connections
Homeless Cares aims to address unmet needs by providing services to our unhoused community members that help them stay clean, healthy, well fed, and feel better about themselves . We offer free breakfasts near the Boulder Bandshell on Wednesdays, and access to showers, laundry service, and transportation that help make their lives more manageable. Engaging in extended one-on-one interactions with our neighbors to provide assistance in activities of daily living also promotes mutual learning, respect, trust, and inspiration.
“Homelessness increased for the third straight year in Boulder County”
- Boulder Beat, May 2021
Critical help is needed more than ever to support the homeless population in Boulder, Colorado. Homeless Cares operates several different programs that serve the personal needs of homeless individuals, especially unsheltered individuals who have little if any access to those services. From our weekly “Breakfast at the Bandshell” on Wednesday to providing showers and laundry services, our goal is to provide much-needed services and dignity to our unhoused community members.
While other cities added shelter beds, hotel rooms, and housing for the anticipated influx of unhoused residents, Boulder did the opposite. The number of shelter beds was cut in half as services consolidated.
